Rock

Here we go with the Rock. We spread all the rocks out so we could figure out colors and placement. Andrea is doing most of the work while I do other electrical things, but I help her out on some spots. The rock is El Dorado brand, York Limestone.

Taking a Break

Every once in a while we take a break with the kids and go swimming. The squirt guns were a big hit, especially when they have a war with their Dad.

Preparing for the Stone

With the siding and shingles completed, it's now on to the rock. Here we are putting up the metal lath and then adding the scratch coat of mortor.

Porch/Entry

Now that we have our door in, we had the siding guys come back and finish up around the door. We decided on a clear coating for the pine soffit and tongue and groove channel around the door.

We will probably end up paiting the tongue and groove instead of staining it so it doesn't take anything away from the natural beauty of the door. Now we have to figure out what color we are going to stain the wood beams and posts.

As you can see from the picture below, we have looked at a few colors, but nothing is standing out right now.

Front Door

We had a hard time deciding on a door. There are so many decisions: Wood or Fiberglass. Sidelights or no sidelights. If sidelights, do we want full, half, or 3/4? What style of glass or what pattern goes in the sidelights? If no sidelights, do we put in regular sidewindows that are separate from the door? Do we want glass inside the door?
As you can see there area myriad of decisions on the door alone, so it took us a while to finally make our decisions. After looking at numerous brochures and houses in the area we finally chose a knotty alder door with half sidelights that are mostly opaque.

More Siding Pics

The siders are getting closer to finishing the front. We had a hard time making up our minds on the combination of shingles, siding and rock. Now we just have to decide on a color for our house. That should only take a few weeks!

The back is finished with the siding!

Andrea is keeping up with the siders so they have plenty of stained shingles to work with.

The kids were good helpers with staining the shingles.

With all the rain, we had to stain some shingles inside the house. We have them laid out in the kitchen and family room.

Wiring the House

Breaker Box in the Garage.

This is where we ran all the home runs. We'll probably have 5000 feet of wire run through our house by the time everything we get finished wiring the recessed lights and other fixtures.
